A Gateway to Whole Person Wellness
Heritage Soul is a personal practice of spiritual care, embodied wellness, cultural memory, creative work made to share. It is a place where the sacred and the mundane are allowed to touch: where tending a body, making an altar, listening to a story, preparing food, studying a plant, witnessing a transition, or making art can all be forms of care.
My understanding of holistic care begins with the whole ecology of a person. I do not believe spirit can be separated from body, identity from ancestry, or individual wellbeing from the communities and living world around us. Heritage Soul is where those threads meet as artistry, cultural care, doulaship, luminary works, and storykeeping.
What comes from that meeting is not always easily categorized, and I don't think it needs to be.
Heritage Soul is for Black, Brown, Indigenous, and other Global Majority people who understand or want to explore complementary and alternative medicine, spiritual practice, and other forms of whole-person care as meaningful parts of wellbeing. My work most often centers QTIGNC kinfolk within these communities, though this is not exclusive. Ultimately, I trust Spirit to guide me toward the people and relationships I am meant to work with.

Meet Me
I’m Imije also known as El, and I use x/xs pronouns.
I am a Black Creek Earthworker, multimedia artist, storyteller-poet, doula, integrative community care specialist,luminary and ordained minister, community advocate and organizer, liberated care companion, micro-farmer, and student of life. I currently steward the traditional shared homelands of the Osage, Otoe, Kickapoo, Kaw, Shawnee, and Wyandot in Western Missouri and Eastern Kansas.
I am a proud Ozarkan who comes from a long line of change makers, healers, and revolutionaries across the nation and beyond, including Oklahoma, Tennessee, Louisiana, and Arkansas. Community care is part of my family legacy. My practice has grown through the knowledge of grandparents, aunties, cousins, peers, elders, formal training, lived experience, and years of studying and practicing complementary healing arts and traditional medicine.
My spiritual practice is informed by animist ways of relating to the living world, Hoodoo as it has come to me first through Southern Baptist Christianity, and later deepened through Conjure, Rootwork, and Obi. These are parts of the spiritual language through which I understand relationship, protection, discernment, prayer, material practice, ancestry, and the presence of Spirit in the world.
I draw from my experiences navigating the world as Black, fat, disabled, Queer, abrogenderqueer, and otherwise multiply marginalized to help create spaces where people can learn, heal, make meaning, and grow together. Across my different roles and practices, I am interested in the same thing: building relationships and systems that help disempowered people thrive outside of colonialism and patriarchy.
Heritage Soul is one expression of that work.

That’s where my services come in. As an experienced Alternative Healer, I work with you to restore your balance and empower you to thrive on your journey.
Initial Consultation
Let's connect and get to know each other! Our initial session is meant to create the foundation for our future work together, and to help me understand you as an individual, so I can craft my offerings to suit your needs. We will spend time discussing your background and history, as well as your specific needs and goals. This time together will help us both decide if working together would be a mutual fit.
